 2023 Preview

Susan Moore finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Susan Moore just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region seven with a 3-3 region record.

The Bulldogs lost as many games as in any season since 2016.

Since 2010, Susan Moore has gone a combined 63-73. Their 46.3% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Susan Moore has managed to compile a record of 149-124. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 3A and 142nd in the AHSAA.

The Bulldogs will be under the direction of new head football coach Wes Patterson as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Patterson has been a teacher at Buckhorn High School where he served as defensive coordinator. He has been in education now for more than 10 years.

The Bulldogs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Susan Moore has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2019 but hope to return to the post season this year.

The Bulldogs open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Douglas on Friday, August 25 at Larry Patterson Field. Last year the Douglas Eagles finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 5A region seven. The Eagles ended last season on a positive note with a win over North Sand Mountain by a score of 45-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Susan Moore and Douglas have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 10-6-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2022 with Douglas winning by a score of 37-7.
